Understanding the physiological and biophysical response of urban roadside plantations for assessing adaptation and mitigation mechanisms toward vehicular emissions

The plants follow various strategies for adapting and mitigating climatic environmental stresses. This offers an opportunity to comprehend adaptation mitigation mechanisms under changing climate environment emerging from vehicular emissions. We deployed approach, i.e., physiological (Phy) biophysical (Bioph) functional traits (FTs) based approach understand plant response assessing potential offsetting long-term urban environment. investigated Phy Bioph FTs of adaptation, especially transpiration rate (E), stomatal conductance (Gs) resistance (SRes), water use efficiency (WUE), carboxylation (CE), mesophyll (ME), leaf thickness (LTh), FTs, including CO2 assimilation (A), dust retention (DRE), cooling impacts (CI) the roadside plantation (Delonix regia Callistemon viminalis). study reported significant effects on modulation one that adapt mitigate climate. C. viminalis was as having a better adaptive nature with higher than D. regia. It is advocated in could be exploited identifying more species develop green belts environments.
